Edge and Big Show square off on SmackDown

Friday Night SmackDown saw one half of The Unified Tag Team Champions Big Show square off against Rated-R Superstar Edge in the main event. The World's Largest Athlete, who has the right to appear on any brand at any time, came to SmackDown off the back of a huge win over D-Generation X on RAW. Meanwhile Edge had defeated Big Show's partner, The Miz, last week on SmackDown. But this would surely prove to be a monstrous task, facing an opponent who weighs no less than 485 pounds. When the main event got underway, the number one contender to the World Heavyweight championship was dominated throughout and defeat looked inevitable. However, the 2010 Royal Rumble winner is not one for giving up and dug deep to try and overcome the giant. After a number of near pinfalls, The Rated-R Superstar then countered a devastating choke slam, to strike with a deadly DDT. Carefully stalking his opponent, The Ultimate Opportunist then struck with a devastating spear to win the match. Chris Jericho then appeared from nowhere, hoping to surprise his former tag team partner, but the new World Heavyweight champion also found himself on the receiving end of an earth-shattering spear from his WrestleMania opponent.

Incensed

Rey Mysterio squared off against The Straight Edge society's Luke Gallows. The Master of the 6-1-9 beat the odds once again by defeating Gallows but there was no time for celebration as The Biggest Little Man had to evade an incensed CM Punk. John Morrison and R-Truth will go on to face Big Show and The Miz at WrestleMania for the Unified Tag Team Championships after the duo came out on top in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match. The fan favourites defeated Cryme Tyme and The Hart Dynasty to secure their place on the card at WrestleMania. Also this week on SmackDown, one more WWE Superstar secured the opportunity of participating in this year's Money in the Bank Match at WrestleMania. Matt Hardy became the seventh member of the much anticipated Ladder Match after he pinned Scotsman and current Intercontinental Champion Drew McIntyre. Elsewhere, Shelton Benjamin struck with Pay Dirt to defeat Dolph Ziggler whilst Ezekiel Jackson made a winning start on his SmackDown debut, literally squashing his opponent Jimmy Wang Yang.

The high-flying South African Rookie pinned British Brawler William Regal with a 450 splash to pick up the win. The surprise victory marked the first time an NXT Rookie has pinned a WWE Pro.
