Arrival of world heavyweight champion causes chaos
The main event collision between Randy Orton and Batista at London's O2 Arena erupted with the arrival of world heavyweight champion Jack Swagger on the latest edition of RAW.
RAW kicked off with this week with actor, singer and producer David Hasselhoff. The worldwide star was in-fact this week's special guest host and was fittingly escorted to the ring by a host of sexy beach babes.
Hoff did not waste any time making his first announcement to the British fans, which detailed a match that he had arranged between the number one contenders to the WWE and world heavyweight titles, Batista and Randy Orton.
Whilst Orton's and Batista's ultimate goal is the world heavyweight title and WWE title respectively, a more immediate goal lay in their paths - namely, defeating each other as RAW.
The two approached their match as a means of gaining momentum and sending a message to both the world heavyweight champion Jack Swagger and WWE champion John Cena.
After their match got under way, the two veterans proved just why they have accumulated a total of 12 World Championships between them.
Seizing a rare opening, The Viper struck The Animal with a vicious RKO. However a twist in the tale ensued, as Batista looked to be on the verge of defeat, Swagger interfered, delivering a Gut Wrench Powerbomb on Orton to cause chaos inside the squared circle.
Floored
Cena then came to the ring and locked in a powerful STF manoeuvre on The Animal, who, after a powerhouse struggle, was finally forced to relent and tap out.
Cena stood over his floored rival and counted to ten, as a parting shot before their scheduled Last Man Standing Match in two weeks time at WWE Extreme Rules.
Whilst Swagger might have dispensed of the new number one contender to his world title, Randy Orton, The Champ forced The Animal to tap out once again to the STF.
Earlier on the show, Cena faced NXT rookie David Otunga, who last week betrayed the WWE champion.
With Cena's Extreme Rules opponent Batista looking on, the WWE champion surmounted a couple of Otunga's underhanded tactics, and went onto defeat the self-proclaimed "A-List" Superstar with an STF.
The Champ then called on The Animal to step into the ring. But after advancing towards the ring, Batista thought better of the situation and retreated to the backstage area.
After announcing that he will face off against Triple H at WWE Extreme Rules in a Street Fight, The Celtic Warrior was interrupted by Kofi Kingston, the man he pummelled with a steel pipe last week.
Never one to back down, The Dreadlock Dynamo confronted the Irishman and demanded a rematch. Just when prospects were looking up for Kingston, however, Sheamus nailed him with a television monitor.
This didn't stop The Celtic Warrior from further punishing his opponent with a devastating pump kick.
David Hart Smith of The Hart Dynasty proposed a match between himself and The Miz with the stipulation that if Smith won, The Hart Dynasty would receive a Unified Tag Team Title Match at WWE Extreme Rules.
If Miz won, however, Bret "The Hit Man" Hart would be forced to proclaim Show-Miz the greatest tag team of all time next week live on RAW.
After a tough back-and-forth battle, it was The Miz who emerged victorious over the young Hart, courtesy of a Skull Crushing Finale manoeuvre.
In the opening match up of the night, Eve Torres overcame Divas Champion Maryse to net the butterfly title and become the new Divas Champion.
