Ex-Dudebuster Barreta picks up the win over Hawkins
Eve Torres proved she is more than just a dancing sidekick with an impressive win over Alicia Fox on WWE Superstars.
Recently, Eve, the former WWE Divas Champion, has been demoted to acting as foil for R-Truth in his entrances by dancing down to the ring with him.
On Superstars however she showed she is still a more than able in-ring competitor by blowing away Fox in a relatively short time.
Fox started off the aggressor and failed with a couple of close pinfall attempts, one after a well executed Northern Lights Suplex.
The end came when Eve hit a Neckbreaker, followed by her trademark Moonsault to pick up the three count from the referee and the victory.
A long running exclusive WWE Superstars feud continued this week, with Trent Barreta again taking on Curt Hawkins in the battle of the wrestlers remaining after recent tag-team break ups.
The previous two encounters have been won by Hawkins, but it was ex-Dudebuster Barreta who picked up the win in this match.
New announcer Jack Korpela joined SmackDown and pay-per-view stalwart Matt Striker behind the commentary desk.
Hawkins gained the upper hand when he threw Barreta out the ring, and appearing to hit his face on the ring steps.
While Barreta was trying to recover Hawkins was rebuffed on three pin attempts, before Barreta responded with a running Yakuza kick.
Crucial moment
The crucial moment arrived after Hawkins reversed Barreta when he attempted his Tornado DDT finishing move, but he pushed Hawkins back into the turnbuckle and hit the DDT to pick up an important win.
Despite impressing in the recent Bragging Rights contest for Team SmackDown, Tyler Reks has dropped quickly down to the lower card, as evidenced by his dominant victory over long-time main event jobber JTG.
Since his tag team partner Shad Gaspard was released from the company early this year, JTG has played little part on any of the main shows and continues to be defeated on Superstars, with the only likely outcome in the near future to be following his former partner out the door.
Reks picked up the win with the Burning Hammer.
In another short squash match, Zack Ryder was defeated by Ezekiel Jackson.
While the WWE continue to give Jackson dominating victorious over lower card talent, there is no opportunity for him to try and develop his character and gimmick.
What he needs is a decent feud against one of the mid-card heels on RAW, possibly Ted DiBiase or William Regal, someone who can bring the obvious talent out of big Zeke.
