On this week's WWE NXT rookie Johnny Curtis' position in the competition is coming under serious threat after a number of disappointing events during the programme. Curtis joined with his Pro, R-Truth in the tag team main event to take on Daniel Bryan and Derrick Bateman. After missing his top rope guillotine Leg Drop, Curtis then attempted to evade Bryan with a backslide but the crafty well travelled former Indy star Bryan reversed this into his patented LaBelle Lock finishing move and quickly had Curtis tapping out. He had also been on the receiving end of some suggestive retorts from Byron Saxton earlier on saying that people were talking saying his "head had got too big." Curtis responded by saying that Saxton is one of the creepiest men he had ever met, and the vignette ended with Saxton declaring that he can "deny it all he wants, but everyone knows the truth." He did however pick up three valuable immunity points when he was the victory of the Arm Wrestling challenge via disqualification when Brodus Clay head-butted him during the final. Bateman picked up two immunity points himself by winning a hugely entertaining "talk the talk" challenge. He decided that the focus of his attention would be Dolph Ziggler, who he claimed had "the body of a Greek god but the face of a catcher's mitt" And that he legally changed his name to Dolph Ziggler from 'Turd Ferguson', which prompted a huge chant of 'turd' from the WWE Universe in residence. Ted DiBiase continued his poor run of results as he was on the receiving end of another surprise rookie victory over a pro as he lost to his former protégé Clay. Clay picked up the win thanks to a Running Powerslam after Ted was distracted by the actions of his girlfriend Maryse at ringside with announcer Todd Grisham. The match however was notable for the absence of the 2011 Royal Rumble winner Alberto Del Rio, as his personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez watched over Clay while the 'Essence of Excellence' was away. Del Rio did however announce on Monday Night RAW that he will face the World Heavyweight Champion at Wrestlemania 27 as a result of his Rumble victory, who, assuming he retains his title at Elimination Chamber, will be Edge. Chris Masters also picked up a victory over former rookie Saxton thanks to the MasterLock. Reports from inside the company suggest that Masters could be in line for a much more enhanced role on Friday Night SmackDown from now on. You can see SmackDown at 9pm on SKY SPORTS HD/4 on Friday Night.
