William Regal rolled back the years this week on WWE NXT: Redemption as he finally got his hands on Jacob Novak and subsequently made the rookie submit to the Regal Stretch.
After competing against Novak's pro JTP last week and winning via disqualification, Regal finally sought revenge after weeks of trash talking by the pair.
Matt Striker took Regal's place on the announcer's table while the former four-time Intercontinental Champion donned the spandex once again.
JTG managed to interfere early on with Regal on the outside, landing a drop kick behind the referee's back.
This show has served as a platform for a slow heel turn for JTG's character, who came to the ring before this match and insulted Nashville and the town's legendary music scene.
Novak attempted to run a big boot into Regal while the veteran was prone in the corner, however showing excellent in-ring craft he caught the foot, dropped Novak to the floor and applied the Regal Stretch to a great reaction from the crowd.
Stupidity
Having spent the last few years of his career as a heel, it seems Regal is making a late surge as a babyface judging on the reaction from the WWE Universe to his victory, perhaps as people are finally giving him enormous credit for his ability nearing the end of his career.
Byron Saxton finally rid himself of Yoshi Tatsu after weeks of threatening to drop the Pro from his side.
After he defeated Conor O'Brian in singles action, he shunned Tatsu who attempted to raise his hand in victory, but instead store down the Japanese Superstar, accusing him of stupidity in ignoring him during his pursuit of Maryse.
Lucky Cannon finally found a way into Maryse's good books after he presented her with a new purse after her last one had gone missing on the show last week.
Darren Young also picked up a surprise victory over Titus O'Neill to hand the barking superstar his first loss on this series.
In the latest of a series of matches between the pair, Hornswoggle was vacant from ringside and O'Neill's thoughts were clearly with the whereabouts of his Pro rather than the match, which he lost after a roll up.
Don't miss Friday Night SmackDown this week as we find out who will face new World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton for the gold at Over the Limit. You can catch it at 10pm on
