Flyers maintain perfect start to campaign

The Philadelphia Flyers continued their unbeaten start to the NHL season with a 5-4 win at home to the Vancouver Canucks. A back-and-forth clash saw the Flyers force the initiative throughout before Andrej Meszaros' go-ahead goal sealed the win for the home side. In North Carolina the Hurricanes beat the Boston Bruins 3-2 to take their first win of the fledgling campaign. Anthony Stewart and Jiri Tlusty struck in the final period to help their side over the line after Joni Pitkanen's earlier goal. Matt Duchene scored the deciding shoot-out goal to see the Colorado Avalanche to a 3-2 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
