Dustin Poirier is aiming to move one step closer to a title shot when he faces Chan Sung Jung at UFC on Fuel 3.

Poirier ready for 'Korean Zombie' test

Dustin Poirier believes he is on the road to becoming the UFC Featherweight champion and will move a step closer when he faces Chan Sung Jung at UFC on Fuel 3. The 23-year-old has taken the UFC by storm since making his debut just under 12 months ago and he is looking to extend his unbeaten run to five fights in Virginia on Tuesday. His opponent is affectionately nicknamed 'Korean Zombie' due to his buccaneering fighting style which displays a frightening lack of self-preservation and an uncanny ability to absorb a tremendous amount of punishment while somehow remaining upright. However, Poirier is confident he can put in a career-best performance and add a notable scalp to his record. "Somebody's getting put to sleep. It's going to be a crazy fight at an awesome pace. I want to set a record for the number of punches thrown, he told UFC.com. "We know he has some heavy hands and he is going to bring the best out of me. I will be looking to stay more technical and not get drawn into the brawl which he invites with open arms. "We know he has a solid chin, we know he has heart, we know he is a warrior, but so am I - and that's what makes great fights."

Experienced

Poirier is 1/3 favourite with Sky Bet to defeat his more experienced opponent, but Jung is coming off an impressive seven-second KO of Mark Hominick at UFC 140 and should not be taken lightly. 'The Diamond' re-iterates that he is focused on this fight and is determined not to get ahead of himself with talk of a title shot in the offing. He added: "A year ago I was hoping to be in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, just to be under the UFC banner and now I am headlining a show. "It is everything I have dreamed about and everything I have worked for. I am living my dreams. "My ultimate goal is to be champion and I'm going out to do battle, my focus is all on the Korean Zombie and fighting with all of my heart." See all of Sky Bet's UFC on Fuel TV markets here.
