The Viper strikes again

Randy Orton proved yet again that there are no depths to which he will not sink with an attack on Dusty Rhodes in Detroit, Michigan.

WWE champ retains his title and then hits out at a Hall of Famer

Randy Orton proved yet again that there are no depths to which he will not sink with a devastating RKO on special guest host Dusty Rhodes as RAW emanated from Detroit, Michigan. Hall of Famer Rhodes made a blockbuster WWE championship match pitching his son Cody against current champion Orton in the main event, with John Cena announced as the guest referee. With the odds stacked against The Viper, it looked inevitable that he would lose his WWE title. However in a cruel twist, Orton, Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase attacked bitter rival John Cena in the middle of the ring. D-Generation X came to the aid of Cena but failed to make any impact as not only were they outnumbered but they were also outfought. As Legacy stood proudly over Cena and DX, yet another twist ensued as The Viper struck with a deadly RKO to Rhodes senior, sparking a livid reaction from Cody before he was placated and reluctantly stood back in line.

Battles

Also on RAW, The Glamazon Beth Phoenix was successful in an "American Dream" six-diva battle royal which promised the winner a divas championship opportunity later in the evening against current champion Mickie James. When that match eventually took place it was a fresh Mickie James that came out on top, executing a perfect tornado DDT to retain her coveted divas title. Elsewhere, the unified tag team champions faced their Breaking Point opponents in singles competition. Chris Jericho squared off against Montel Vontavious Porter in what turned out to be a closely fought encounter that saw Jericho secure victory by delivering a Codebreaker on The Ballin' Superstar.
Hostility
The Big Show, meanwhile, was disqualified in his match with Mark Henry after he smashed his opponent's head into an exposed turnbuckle. Kofi Kingston's United States championship was on the line in a fatal fourway match up against Carlito, Jack Swagger and The Miz. Despite an impressive showing from his three challengers, it was The Jamaican Superstar who retained his championship after he struck Carlito with Trouble In Paradise. Hornswoggle also got the better of Chavo Guerrero as they faced off in a Bullrope match. Next week, gameshow host Bob Barker will take over the reins as special guest host. See what happens in the next installment of Monday Night RAW which comes to you LIVE next Monday night at 2am on Sky Sports 3 and Sky Sports HD3.
