Defending champions England A have reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup of Pool with a 7-0 thrashing of Korea.

Darren Appleton and Karl Boyes stayed on course for another title triumph after a ruthless performance against the Korean pairing of Jeong Young Hwa and Ryu Seung Wu at York Hall in Behtnal Green.

Any mistake was calmly punished by Appleton and Boyes, who will next face either Romania or Indonesia.

Earlier in the night, the England B duo of Mark Gray and Darly Peach progressed to the last 16 after a 7-4 win over Sweden's Marcus Chamat and Christian Sparrenloev-Fischer.

But third seeds Holland, who reached last year's final, have bowed out of the competition after a tense 7-6 defeat by Japan.
