Tough Mudder world champion Stefanie Bishop told Sky Sports what to expect from her unique sport...
What is Tough Mudder?
It's an obstacle course race with four different distances. You'll be running, and encountering obstacles like walls, a mud mile, barbed wire.
You're challenging yourself mentally, physically and emotionally.
Is it an individual sport?
Teamwork plays a big part. There's one part where you need teamwork to move an obstacle out of the water because it's really heavy.
You're working with people, whether they're friends or strangers.
What skills do you need?
You need an endurance base, so practise running. Work on strength training, and grip training. Upper body strength. This is a full body event, working you from head to toe.
Is it scary?
People can be nervous but the energy is so positive, and so uplifting. Having a positive mental attitude will help you.
How do you feel when you win a race?
I was so focussed, I was in a state of flow. You are present, but you're in the groove. It didn't hit me until halfway through the final lap - I did 85 miles!
I was tired, happy, but the emotion didn't hit me until I turned the final bend. I was in shock.
How can people get involved?
Look for a local event and sign up. People get nervous about signing up, but just click the button and do it! Tough Mudder is a really strong community and an extended family.
