Legendary snooker commentator Ted Lowe died aged 90 on Sunday.
Known as "Whispering Ted", Lowe became the voice of snooker through his long career with the BBC.
He retired after the 1996 World Championship and died on the morning of this year's final in Sheffield, in which Judd Trump will meet John Higgins.
Lowe had been in a hospice following a 10-week illness but is said to have followed this year's championships closely.
Former colleague John Virgo highlighted Lowe's witty nature and ranks him amongst the great sporting commentators.
"He set a standard for us all," Virgo said on Sunday. "I commentated with him and he was wonderful.
"He had an impish sense of humour and while cricket had its John Arlott, Wimbledon had its Dan Maskell, we had Ted Lowe.
"He was one of the BBC greats. Those hushed tones, 'Whispering Ted', it's a sad day for snooker. He'll be sadly missed."
