World number one Mark Selby has been sent crashing out of the Brazil Masters after a 4-3 defeat to Peter Ebdon in the quarter-finals.
Selby has climbed to the top of the rankings after some superb recent form but could not emerge with the win against the tenacious former world champion.
Ebdon took a 3-1 lead before Selby claimed the fifth frame on the colours and then levelled the tie with a break of 63.
The Leicester cueman then went 41-3 ahead in the deciding frame only for Ebdon to produce an excellent run of 70 to complete the victory.
Ebdon will now face Graeme Dott in the last four in a repeat of the 2006 World Championship final after the Scotsman defeated Brazil's Igor Figueiredo 4-2, producing breaks of 79 and 77 along the way.
In the third quarter-final of the day, another former world champion, Shaun Murphy, eased to a 4-1 win over Ricky Walden.
Murphy will face seven-time Crucible winner Stephen Hendry in the semi-finals after the Scot cruised into the last four with a 4-0 whitewash of Ali Carter.
