Leading 7-1 overnight, White returned to the Crucible on Friday afternoon and rolled in breaks of 71, 83, 73 and 102 to set up a last-eight meeting with Ricky Walden or Robert Milkins.

Thailand's Poomjaeng shook hands with fans on the front row before departing behind the dark curtains to bring an end to a campaign that began with a stunning win against world number five Stephen Maguire.

White beat his compatriot Mark Williams in the first round and is bidding to become the first debutant to reach the World Championship semi-finals since Andy Hicks in 1995.

"I'm thrilled," he said. "The way I've played in both my matches has been pleasing for me.

"I had to keep in the zone and keep concentration and I felt I did that well all the way through. Last night he was joking around a lot but I held it together pretty well."

Top Trump

On the other table, Judd Trump reeled off three centuries in four frames on the way to opening a 6-2 lead over Marco Fu in their second-round match.

Hong Kong's Fu won the first two before Trump began his purple patch with a run of 109.

And the Bristol left-hander made further contributions of 127, 112 and 73 to finish the opening session of the best-of-25 contest in a strong position.

Friday's late finish belonged to Shaun Murphy and Graeme Dott as Murphy resisted a dogged fightback to claim a 13-11 win.

Leading 6-2 overnight, Murphy was pegged back to 8-8 after the morning session and trailed 10-9 at one stage in the evening.

But the man who lifted the title as a qualifier in 2005 dug deep to lead again before holding his nerve in the 24th frame - ending 30 minutes of grinding snooker to sink a great long red and set up a match-clinching break of 49.
