Qualifier Kyren Wilson will take on Judd Trump in his first ranking final after beating Mark Allen in the Shanghai Masters semi-finals.
Wilson had to come through three matches to make the draw for the event in China, as well as a wildcard round, and he has since taken the scalps of Joe Perry, Michael Holt and home favourite Ding Junhui.
His victory over Ding came in a deciding frame, but Allen proved a far more straightforward opponent as Wilson reeled off the first five frames to leave the Northern Irish player on the brink.
Allen claimed frame six, but Wilson made a fourth 50-plus break in the next frame to move through 6-1.
Trump ended Stuart Bingham's hope of defending his title with a 6-3 victory, coming from 2-1 down to set up a clash with Northamptonshire potter Wilson.
The quality of snooker in the first four frames was top-class, Trump enjoying breaks of 95 and 100, while Bingham had runs of 98 and 118 to leave the game in the balance at 2-2.
But Trump took a 4-2 lead and then won the last two frames to secure his place in Sunday's final.
