O'Sullivan next for Hong Kong cueman

Marco Fu beat Li Yuan 5-4 to book a first-round clash with Ronnie O'Sullivan at the China Open. The Hong Kong potter came from 2-0 down to defeat Chinese wildcard Li at the Beijing Sports Gymnasium. And Fu's reward is a place in the main draw against two-time world champion O'Sullivan, who he beat in the Grand Prix final earlier this year. "I've played Ronnie many times and I have a good record against him," Fu said. "He has a lot of fans here in China so it will be great to play him here." On his stuttering display, Fu added: "I didn't perform well, in fact Li played better than me.

Luck

"If he'd had luck on his side in the last frame, he could have won. The balls didn't run well throughout the match, they always seemed to be on the cushions. "It was hard to make a 20 break. Li dealt with it well and his safety was good. I didn't know much about him before, but every time I see the Chinese players they have progressed, so I expected a tough game." Meanwhile, English pair Ricky Walden and Dave Harold both reached the main draw with respective victories over Yu Delu and Jin Long in the wildcard round. Walden prevailed 5-3 against Yu and will meet Mark Selby in the first round, while Harold triumped 5-4 over Yin and will play Shaun Murphy next. Northern Ireland's Mark Allen also came through the wildcard round with a 5-2 success over Li Hang.
