Robertson also safely into last eight of Shoot-Out

Ronnie O'Sullivan once again showed his liking for the Caesarscasino.com Snooker Shoot-Out format with the highest break in the history of the fledgling tournament. O'Sullivan, a three-time world champion, rolled in an effort of 129 to beat Mark Selby in the last 16 of the inaugural edition of the competition. Each match is a one-frame knockout with a 10-minute time limit and a shot clock, which starts at 20 seconds and is then reduced to 15 for the final five minutes. Those innovations made little difference to Selby, who only had the chance to play one shot. His response to the break off left O'Sullivan with a look at his opening red and the Essex potter, who has always thrived when a shot clock is in operation, never looked liked missing. O'Sullivan offered his hand without attempting the final black, claiming afterwards he was unaware of the high break prize on offer. He advances to a last-eight date with Mike Dunn, who was a 47-6 winner over Stuart Bingham.

Bond escape

Rory McLeod narrowly failed to repeat his heroics from the previous round. McLeod, who had beaten Tony Drago on Saturday night by fluking the final black, twice kept himself alive with doubled reds on the way to levelling at 45-45 inside the final minute against Nigel Bond. But Bond secured the win by potting the yellow and goes through to a quarter-final against Mark King. King had eased part Fergal O'Brien 61-5 in the opening match of the day. Judd Trump will meet Robert Milkins in the quarter-final after their respective wins over Peter Lines and Ryan Day. World champion Neil Robertson was a comfortable 63-13 victor against Ken Doherty and plays Marcus Campbell next. Campbell completed the quarter-final line-up with a 76 break to see off Anthony Hamilton. The tournament concludes on Sunday evening and you can watch all the action live on Sky Sports 2 from 7pm.
