WWE SummerSlam: Apollo Crews earns Intercontinental Title match
Wednesday 3 August 2016 11:20, UK
Apollo Crews will challenge The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam after winning a Triple Threat Match on Smackdown.
Crews overcame former United States Champion Kalisto and the powerhouse Baron Corbin to secure a showdown with The Awesome One in Brooklyn on August 21, live on Sky Sports Box Office.
The Georgia native missed out on competing for the WWE Title at SummerSlam after losing in a Six-Pack Challenge, Dolph Ziggler earning the right to fight Dean Ambrose.
But Crews - who previously competed in Drago Gate and Dragon Gate USA - could yet collect the first championship of his WWE career later this month having pinned Kalisto on the blue brand.
The Miz, meanwhile, is a five-time Intercontinental Champion, the Clevelander beginning his latest stint with the title a day after WrestleMania 32 following victory over Zack Ryder.
The A-Lister has since seen off challenges from Sami Zayn, Cesaro and Kevin Owens, while he also retained the belt at Battleground against Darren Young after a double disqualification.
