Clash of Champions: All four SmackDown titles up for grabs
Monday 18 December 2017 15:32, UK
All four of SmackDown's titles will be on the line at Clash of Champions, live on Sky Sports Box Office on Sunday.
In keeping with the traditional roots of the event, the four championships currently available for competition by superstars on the blue brand will be on the line, with the tag team match between Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens and Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura featuring the hugely rare stipulation of two special guest referees.
Both general manager Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon will don the black-and-white stripes for the match, which will see Owens and Zayn fired "from all of WWE" if they are defeated.
AJ Styles makes the first pay-per-view defence of the WWE title he won from Jinder Mahal in Manchester in November with the Modern Day Maharajah getting his official rematch.
The match is the only one-on-one men's singles contest on the main card, although Mojo Rawley is slated to face former tag team partner Zack Ryder on the pre-show.
Styles goes into the match having been beaten by Brock Lesnar in a champion-against-champion match-of-the-year contender at Survivor Series but in good shape after a string of wins over the Singh Brothers on television and against Mahal on the house show circuit.
The other singles bout sees Charlotte Flair defend the SmackDown women's title against Natalya, although the contest is the subject of a lumberjack stipulation.
The Riott Squad, Carmella - whose Money In The Bank briefcase remains intact - Lana and Tamina will all be at ringside to add to the possible permutations of the match.
The United States Championship will be the subject of a triple threat match, with Baron Corbin putting his belt on the line against Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Roode.
Considering Corbin won an inter-brand match against The Miz at Survivor Series and Roode and Ziggler are likely to be pre-occupied with their contempt for each other, the champion has to go into the defence as favourite.
In what is likely to be an all-action encounter, the Usos' tag team titles will be on the line against three other teams, with a New Day duo, Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin and Aiden English & Rusev all bidding for the straps.
The rules dictate that there will be four superstars in the ring at all times until there's a pinfall or a submission and each competitor is only able to tag their partner.
