WWE TLC 2014: Dolph Ziggler, John Cena and Ryback prevail in Ohio...

Relive last year's pay-per-view ahead of 2015 event on December 13...

Legendary crooner Andy Williams described the festive period as "the most wonderful time of the year" - but plenty of WWE Superstars may disagree with that sentiment.

For while regular folk sip down mulled wine and attend Christmas parties, the world's top grapplers are often getting pummelled with weapons at the Tables, Ladders, and Chairs event.

That was the case for Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Seth Rollins, Kane and many more last December, at a pay-per view that featured the inaugural Steel Stairs Match…

Ziggler climbs the ladder to success

The end of 2014 was incredibly memorable for Dolph Ziggler. Not only did the Show-Off emerge as Team Cena's sole survivor at Survivor Series to, if only temporarily, remove The Authority from power but he also regained the Intercontinental Championship at TLC by besting Luke Harper. Ziggler, who shipped the strap to Harper a month previously on Raw, had enjoyed Ladder Match success before, notably when winning Money in the Bank in mid-2012 and then successfully defending his contract in another ladder tussle, against John Cena, at TLC. However, he had to deal with a valiant Harper before superkicking his rival off a ladder and unhooking the belt.

Rowan slips up on stairs

Harper and Rowan have now re-joined The Wyatt Family but 12 months ago they were ploughing lone furrows - and losing at TLC. While Harper was sent crashing to the mat by Ziggler, Rowan was conquered by the gargantuan Big Show in the inaugural Steel Stairs Match, a bout that came into being when Show clobbered Rowan with the steps on Raw and the red-bearded brawler responded in kind. The match itself was a see-saw affair but the World's Largest Athlete emerged victorious by cracking Rowan with a chokeslam and a Knockout Punch and then pinning his foe with the aid of the steps.

Wyatt survives Ambrose asylum

As his then ex but now current minions Harper and Rowan were being vanquished, Wyatt Family founder Bray Wyatt beat Dean Ambrose - though not before receiving a thorough beating. Ambrose used myriad weapons to batter The Eater of Worlds in their TLC scrap; The Lunatic Fringe sending Wyatt through TWO tables and smashing him with a kendo stick, before a leap off a ladder saw both competitors tumble onto the oft-destroyed Spanish announce desk. Dios mio! Ambrose attempted to seal the victory by using a TV monitor but when the plugged-in device exploded in his face, Wyatt performed a match-winning Sister Abigail.

Ryback proves the better chair-man

Kane went from hurling a hot dog at Ryback to throwing chairs - but still could not get the better of The Big Guy. Due to The Authority's fleeting absence from WWE TV following Survivor Series, Director of Operations Kane was banished to a fast-food kiosk by guest General Manager Daniel Bryan. Ryback was the first to chuckle at his fate and paid the price by receiving a frankfurter to the face and a chair-based assault, leading Bryan to sanction a Chairs Match at TLC. Kane whacked the powerhouse with a chair to the face, though Ryback recovered to administer a Shell Shocked for the win.

Cena edges Rollins in Table scrap

Cena needed to defeat Rollins to remain No 1 contender to then WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar and he did - thanks to Roman Reigns. The Cenation Leader was embroiled in a three-on-one scrap at times, with Rollins' assistants, Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury, attacking him, but he dealt with J&J Security by plonking them through a table. He soon did the same to Rollins but as Cena dropped through a table at the same time and officials could not decide who tumbled fist, the bout restarted. That lead to Big Show emerging to help Rollins and clobber Cena but as the giant prepared a chokeslam, Reigns speared Show, Superman punched Rollins and watched on as Cena smashed The Architect through the pine.
