Giannis Antetokounmpo and Paul George named NBA Players of the Month for February

Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named Eastern Conference Player of the Month for games played in February while Paul George has earned Western Conference honours.

This is the third Player of the Month honour for Antetokounmpo this season after he won the award for the months of December and October/November. This month's award marks the fourth time he's won Player of the Month in his career.

Antetokounmpo averaged 30.6 points, 12.6 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game, while shooting 62.1 per cent from the field and 40.0 per cent from three in February.

While leading the Bucks to a 9-0 record in his games played last month, Antetokounmpo tallied one 40-point game and four 30-point games. He also had four games with 30+ points and 10+ rebounds and recorded a triple-double in a win over the Indiana Pacers on February 13, scoring 33 points with 19 rebounds and a season-high tying 11 assists.

Overall this season, Antetokounmpo is averaging career-highs in points (27.0, seventh in the NBA), rebounds (12.6, fifth in the NBA) and assists (5.9) per game while shooting a career-best 58.1 per cent from the field.

Thunder forward George has been named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Month, the league announced on Friday.

In 10 games played, George averaged 35 points, 8.4 rebounds, 5.4 assists and 2.1 steals per game while he shot 44 per cent from the field and 38.6 per cent from beyond the arc.

George edged out Houston Rockets guard James Harden for the award. Harden averaged 37.6 points, 6.2 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 2.5 steals in 11 games during the month.

The Thunder went 6-4 with George in the lineup.

Paul George nailed a buzzer-beater from inside his own half during the Oklahoma City Thunder's clash with the Utah Jazz

The award for George marks the fourth of his career and the first since moving to the Western Conference. He last won the award with the Indiana Pacers in April of the 2016-17 season.

George has put together the best season of his nine-year career in his second season with the Thunder and has become a candidate for the MVP award as a result.

He is averaging a career-high 28.6 points per game this season.
