Two-time NBA Finals MVP Kevin Durant could be set to end his standoff with the media as speculation continues to mount over his future with the Golden State Warriors.

Durant enters free agency this summer and has given little to no indication as to whether he will stay with the all-conquering Warriors or look for a fresh challenge elsewhere.

The situation has become even more opaque with Durant deciding to avoid press conferences and group sessions with the media for the last nine days.

The 30-year-old has conducted one-on-one interviews during this period but the NBA is now looking into his 'boycott' of the wider media, Field Level Media reported on Wednesday evening.

Durant, who has criticised reports stating he would not want to play with LeBron James, could be subject to a penalty if he continues to avoid the press until next Saturday, when the NBA holds All-Star Media Day in Charlotte.

The speculation does not appear to have affected Durant or his teammates, with the Warriors winning 11 of their last 12 games to climb to the top of the Western Conference.
