Minnesota Timberwolves trio Derrick Rose, Jeff Teague and Robert Covington ruled out for rest of season

Minnesota Timberwolves trio Derrick Rose, Jeff Teague and Robert Covington have all been ruled out for the remainder of the NBA season with injuries.
With the Timberwolves already out of the playoff picture in the Western Conference, the injuries are set to have little impact on the outcome of what has been a disappointing season.
Covington has not played since December 31 and recently suffered a setback in his recovery from a right knee bone bruise. He averaged 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds this season, split between Philadelphia and Minnesota, who acquired him as part of the Jimmy Butler trade.
"Covington has made improvements in his recovery and had progressed to on-court activities, in preparation to rejoin the team," the Timberwolves said in a statement on Thursday.
"However, he recently suffered a setback which will require further treatment before returning to the court and as a result, is expected to miss the remainder of the season."
Rose, a former MVP whose career has been blighted by injury, has missed the past four games because of a chip fracture and a loose body in his right elbow. He averaged 18.0 points and 4.3 assists in 51 games (13 starts).
"The team and Rose are currently exploring further treatment options and he is expected to miss the remainder of the season," the Timberwolves said.
Fellow point guard Teague, having aggravated a left foot injury originally suffered in December, also has missed the past four games. He averaged 12.1 points and 8.2 assists in 42 games, starting all but one.
"Teague received an injection designed to treat chronic inflammation. He will wear a boot and is scheduled to be re-evaluated in approximately three weeks," the Timberwolves added.
Minnesota will look to improve their 32-39 record when they travel to face the Charlotte Hornets on Thursday night.
