Remarkably this is not the first time that bats have appeared inside the AT&T Center in San Antonio during an NBA game.
In 2009 Manu Ginobili, playing for the Spurs, grabbed a bat mid-flight when it flew above the court.
On Thursday night multiple bats had to be rounded up causing an amusing delay. The Spurs beat the Nets 117-114.
