Joel Embiid was at his dominant best as he powered the Philadelphia 76ers to victory over the Brooklyn Nets with 39 points and 13 rebounds.
Embiid racked up his 39-point haul in just 28 minutes of playing time, connecting on 12-of-20 shots - including 3-of-4 from three-point range - to lead the Sixers to a 123-110 victory, their seventh in their last 10 games, that strengthened their hold on third place in the Eastern Conference.
Embiid added 13 rebounds and six assists and went 12-of-16 from the free throw line.
It was the Sixers center's league-best 27th game with at least 30 points and 10 rebounds this season.
Embiid got off to a hot start, scoring his first points with a put-back after he recovered his own missed shot. He followed that up with a pinpoint lob pass from the top of the key to set up a soaring Ben Simmons alley-oop slam, then drained two three-pointers and added two powerful finishes at the rim for good measure.
At the start of the third quarter, Embiid showed off his footwork, spinning in the low post before hitting a deft finish over the helpless Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
The Sixers franchise star quelled any hope of a late Brooklyn fightback when scored in the post to put the Sixers ahead 118-105 with three minutes left and added two free throws 30 seconds later to make the game safe.
