George Fisher's Netball Superleague diary: Saracens Mavericks' wins, losses and fresh kicks

George Fisher is back with a new Sky Sports Netball Superleague diary... she reflects back on Saracens Mavericks' recent run, the big Easter Weekend and much more.

So I left you last time just before the Loughborough Lightning game that feels like a while ago now but still as raw as ever! We lost by five goals and up until the last five minutes we were going goal-for-goal - it was so disappointing not being able to push on and finish that one.

Next, we faced London Pulse and they really brought it to us… another defeat by three goals. Definitely not the result we wanted but we didn't bring our best game and with the league as competitive as it is you cannot afford for that to happen.

They say that things come in threes and unfortunately that was true for us as we then lost to Wasps by seven goals. We tried to mount a comeback in the last quarter but it was a little too late. There's no denying, it was not a good run for us but as they say everything comes in threes and we were confident that we would get back to our old winning ways.

Even though we lost, it was a great home game held at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes. It's the first time we've played there and it's a really good venue with a great vibe from the moment that we got there to running out on court.

Our supporters were amazing from the start to the very end of the game. Thank you. The game was held in honour of Mike Ho, our former head physio, and we played for the inaugural Mike Ho Trophy, with funds being raised to support the charity Mind.

Although none of us like to lose, especially me, there always has to be a winner and a loser in every game and this season must totally be the best Superleague season for shock results. It keeps everyone on their toes, any team can win any match, so it does make it really interesting, and there are no easy games.

Moving forwards a little, it was great to be back at the Ricoh on Easter weekend and awesome to come away with two much-needed wins. We faced Dragons in the first match on Saturday and took the win with all 12 players taking to court.

The Easter bunnies came to visit us Sunday morning in the shape of Jo Trip & Georgia Lees and gave us all chocolate eggs! After joining in with the conga and doing the 'Oops Upside Your Head' dance on court during the half-time break of the Stars versus Storm game, it was down to business.

We knew that, if we wanted to still be in with a chance of finishing top four, it would be a tough, must-win game versus Bath. The match was going goal-for-goal for the majority of it with us going into the final quarter with a narrow two-goal lead.

We battled right to the end and took the win by five goals. I have to say our defence were totally on fire, the whole team pulled together and I got to have another little run out as GA in the final quarter. I'm looking forward to the last couple of rounds and seeing if we can get that place in the semi-finals.

In other news, I've got some awesome new trainers that I've been playing in, once again picked by my brother Jake! I've had a lot of people asking me what ones they are; they're Nike (no surprise there) LeBron XVI Equality basketball shoes and I'm absolutely loving them. And no, they come like that I didn't buy two separate pairs!

It's been a busy few weeks all around for me with my netball including being up in Loughborough trialling for the full-time England Roses programme. It was really great catching up with all the girls as always and fingers crossed I'll be re-selected.

A shout-out to the England University Netball Team who were successful in winning the Home Nations beating both Scotland and Wales and also to Saracens Ladies beating Wasps Ladies 31-13 in their semi-final and securing a place in the Tyrrells Premier 15s final versus Harlequins Ladies on April 27.

Also, I had my last-but-one uni assignment deadline on a Friday at 3:30pm. I was still working on it first thing that morning... then I went to the Easter camp at Turnford Netball Club to meet all of the netballers before flying straight back to uni and submitting the assignment at 3:28pm! Just skimming it in before the deadline! One more assignment and one exam and that's me done - well for year two anyway, I've still got another year until I'm officially finished.

Finally, can you believe that we've just had the year anniversary of the England Roses winning the gold medal in the Commonwealth Games?! What a game!

My Dad was screaming at the television in the early hours of the morning and sitting there crying when they won. Bless him, I don't know what he would have been like if I'd actually been there! Got to love him, he's one big softie. So that's it from me for now, will catch up soon.
