Huddersfield to hold its first Netball Superleague match and it's live on Sky Sports!

Yorkshire Jets are to use the opportunity of the first ever competitive Superleague Netball game in Huddersfield to showcase the sport.

Jets, who are this season taking their home games in netball’s top UK competition across Yorkshire, will take on Hertfordshire Mavericks in front of the Sky Sports cameras at the University of Huddersfield on Monday March 2.

After a successful test event against Manchester Thunder in October during pre-season, this will be the first time that a competitive Superleague Netball game has been held in the town.

Anna Carter, Yorkshire Jets Head Coach, said: “We’re excited to be bringing Superleague Netball to Huddersfield and look forward to showcasing the sport’s top competition for the first time.

More from Netball Superleague

“Everyone at Yorkshire Jets is also passionate about netball at every level so we’re delighted to be hosting the Huddersfield Giants v Yorkshire Terriers mini-tournament ahead of our game and I look forward to seeing the young players in action.”

This year’s Yorkshire Jets squad includes 18-year old Lydia Walker from Huddersfield. She discovered her passion for netball at Lindley Infants and Juniors, Salendine Nook High School and Greenhead College before starting at Leeds Beckett University last September. She’s excited about being able to showcase the sport in her home town:

“As a Huddersfield girl, I’m delighted that Superleague Netball is coming to the town for the first time so that fans of all ages here get a chance to see some of the best players in the sport in their own town," said Walker.

“I’m even more excited that I’m in the Jets squad when we bring the sport’s competition to Huddersfield. Having a really supportive home crowd makes a difference for the team and I know we can count on fans here to be our eighth player on court.”

Watch Yorkshire Jets v Hertfordshire Mavericks from 7.30pm on Sky Sports 4, Monday March 2. If you're not a Sky Sports subscriber you can watch the game for £6.99 with Now TV.
