Natalie Haythorntwaite says the Yorkshire Jets wanted to prove why they deserve to be a top-four team following their 74-47 win over Celtic Dragons

Yorkshire Jets impressed as they comprehensively beat Celtic Dragons 75-47 on Monday night to move third in the Netball Superleague.

Playing live on Sky Sports, Jets started strongly in their final home game of the season and didn’t go behind all night in Hull.

Yorkshire Keeper Lauren Potter was standing up well to Chelsea Lewis' strong hold in the circle, while Player of the Match Natalie Haythornthwaite provided sharp and accurate shooting the few times Timmy Cato wasn't available, and offered tireless feeds into the circle.

Jets led 20-12 at the end of the first quarter and, while the second 15 minutes was more evenly matched, Anna Carter’s side had extended their lead to 13 points at half-time.

After the break, Jets refused to ease the pressure on their Welsh opponents and their dominance in all areas of the court showed.

Dragons were unable to stop the goals flowing, with the ball streaming through the midcourt and lofting high into 6ft 6in shooter Cato. Jets were 20 points ahead after the third quarter and, by the final whistle, that had grown to 28.

There is just one round left of the Netball Superleague, which includes Jets' match with Hertfordshire Mavericks and will decide who each side play in the semi-finals.
