South Africa stopped Wales' winning streak at the Netball World Cup with a 68-40 victory in Tuesday's qualification rounds.

The first half of the game was a close contest with the Welsh putting pressure on the South African shooters. However, the Proteas' midcourt came into the game and eventually laid down the core of a dominant performance.

South Africa used speed and space to their advantage, with Surrey Storm's Bongiwe Msomi bossing the central areas and feeds with plenty of goal assists.

Shooters Lenize Potgieter and Maryka Holtzhausen ensured the Proteas were up by 10 goals at half-time.

When the teams returned the match became physical, with Wales Wing Defence Suzy Drane and South African Centre Erin Burger colliding on court.

Unfortunately for Wales, even with the brilliant shooting of Chelsea Lewis (29/31, 91 per cent), they couldn't keep up with the pressure from the world's sixth best side.
