Touchdown pass the highlight for veteran
Quarterback legend Brett Favre made a losing debut for the New York Jets, throwing a touchdown pass in a 13-10 defeat by the Washington Redskins in a pre-season game at the Meadowlands.
Favre played 14 snaps - all in the first quarter - and converted a four-yard touchdown pass to rookie tight end Dustin Keller to complete his second and final drive, making it 7-0 to the Jets.
Former Green Bay favourite Favre, 38, finished five-for-six for 48 yards. He was sacked once for a 10-yard loss.
"I was nervous, excited," Favre said. "There were some feelings I have not felt in a while, but I was excited."
Acquired in a trade after spending 16 seasons with the Packers, Favre is back in NFL action after announcing, then renouncing, his retirement.
The three-time league MVP was greeted to a warm welcome by the fans at a sparsely-populated Giants Stadium.
