Former Tennessee and Baltimore QB shot dead

Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Steve McNair has been found shot dead. McNair suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head in an apartment in Nashville on Saturday. He was 36 years old. A 20-year-old woman was also found dead at the scene with a single gunshot to the head. Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron identified the woman as Sahel Kazemi, whom he described as a friend of McNair's. Titans owner Bud Adams released a statement on Saturday saying: "We are saddened and shocked to hear the news of Steve McNair's passing today. "He was one of the finest players to play for our organisation and one of the most beloved players by our fans. "He played with unquestioned heart and leadership and led us to places that we had never reached, including our only Super Bowl. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they deal with his untimely passing." NFL commissioner Roger Goodell issued a statement on behalf of the league, saying: "We don't know the details but it is a terrible tragedy and our hearts go out to the families of everyone involved." The three-time Pro Bowler played 11 seasons with the Titans franchise and two with the Baltimore Ravens before retiring in 2008. He led the Titans to Super Bowl XXXIV, where they lost 23-16 to the St Louis Rams and was also NFL co-MVP in 2003.
