Usain Bolt’s quest for the "triple triple" is on track after he cruised into the final of the 200m at the Olympic Games on Wednesday.
The Jamaican eased down over the last 50m of his semi-final but still managed to clock a time of 19.78sec, narrowly beating Canada's Andre de Grasse.
He is attempting to win the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay titles for the third successive Games after sweeping the titles in Beijing and London.
Bolt and De Grasse cruised home ahead of the rest of the field, which included GB's Adam Gemili, who reached the final having been one of the two fastest losers.
There was a massive surprise in the other 200m semi-final, as America's Justin Gatlin and Bolt's team-mate Yohan Blake both crashed out.
American Lashawn Merritt is expected to be Bolt's biggest threat, having run the 200m in 19.74 seconds this year.
