Roberto Pavoni claimed a bronze medal for Great Britain at the European Swimming Championships in Berlin.

Pavoni ended up third in the 200 metres individual medley, behind Laszlo Cseh and Philip Heintz, in a time of one minute 58.22 seconds.

Stephen Milne just missed out on a medal in the men's 1500m freestyle finishing in fourth. British team-mate Jay Lelliott was next home in fifth place.

Commonwealth 200m breaststroke champion Ross Murdoch qualified for the final of the event, edging Andrew Willis as the quickest to go through.

Others to go through to their finals were fellow Commonwealth medallists Jazz Carlin (800m freestyle), Aimee Willmott (200m individual medley), Georgia Davies (100m backstroke) and Chris Walker-Hebborn (50m backstroke).

In the diving, Tom Daley and James Denny - the partnership who took Commonwealth silver in the 10m synchro in Glasgow - missed out on another title.

The pair ended up in fourth, with errors on their four-and-a-half somersaults costing them the chance of claiming a medal.
