On Soccer AM...
Thursday 7 October 2010 12:30, UK
Wales striker Robert Earnshaw, actor David Morrissey and Badly Drawn Boy are all on this week's show!
Domestic action is on the back burner as Europe's finest go off to represent their countries, but as ever it's full steam ahead in the Soccer AM studios this Saturday morning. First on the orange sofas will be a record breaking striker! They say good things come in threes and Nottingham Forest striker Rob Earnshaw knows all about that. The Wales star is the only player to have scored a hat-trick in all four tiers of English football, as well as in the FA Cup, League Cup and at international level too! In fact the 29-year-old would've been looking to add to his tally for Wales this week had he not been ruled out through injury. Currently sidelined with a thigh strain, Earnshaw will be talking to Hells Bells and Max about a career which has seen him find the back of the net wherever he has gone. In 183 appearances for Cardiff he scored 86 goals becoming a favourite with the Bluebirds' fans before joining West Bromwich Albion in 2004. Despite an impressive first season at the Hawthorns, where he finished as the club's top scorer, Earnshaw joined Norwich City on transfer deadline day in January 2006, and became an instant hit with the Canaries - scoring 27 goals in just 47 appearances. His goal-scoring exploits caught the eye of a host of managers up and down the country, but it was Derby County who decided to break their transfer record and splash out £3.5 million on the Zambian born striker. Unfortunately the move proved to be unsuccessful for both parties and less than a year later he joined local rivals Nottingham Forest, where he once again found his magic touch. His goals last season propelled the club into a play-off place, but defeat to Blackpool denied Forest a return to the Premier League. Ten games into the current campaign and Earnshaw and co. currently find themselves three points off the play-offs, and we'll be finding just how confident he is of securing promotion this term.First
From one man who's used to scoring hat-tricks, to another who will be earning his very first this Saturday!
Actor David Morrissey will be picking up his commemorative Soccer AM ball as he makes his third appearance on the show, and he'll be talking about his new Sky 1 drama; Thorne: Sleepyhead and his beloved Liverpool.
Brought up in the Kensington and Knotty Ash areas of Merseyside, Morrissey learnt his craft at the Everyman Youth Theatre.
His CV includes a number of critically acclaimed roles such as Stephen Collins in State of Play and Gordon Brown in The Deal, which saw him win the Best Actor award at the Royal Television Society Awards.
In recent years the 46-year-old has proved he is equally adept behind the camera too, having directed Sweet Revenge and Passer By for the BBC, while his debut feature, Don't Worry About Me, premiered at the 2009 London Film Festival.
He'll no doubt be giving his view on the goings-ons at Anfield this week, and revealing the great story behind how Thorne: Sleepyhead got made.
