Max Whitlock and the World Cup of Gymnastics is coming to Sky Sports and the double Olympic gold medalist believes it can make a huge impression.
As part of a new venture between British Gymnastics and Matchroom Sport, Sky Sports will show live coverage of the World Cup event next April, which will feature a men's and women's competition with the top names invited to take part.
As well as the all-around competitions, the men will battle it out over the floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars and the high bar, with the women competing on vault, uneven bars, beam and floor.
Whitlock was at the Shard in London alongside fellow Olympic medalists Nile Wilson, Amy Tinkler and trampolinist Bryony Page and he feels the new event is good for the sport after GB's finest ever Olympics in the gymnastics arena.
"For us it is very exciting," Whitlock told Sky Sports. "All the gymnasts are looking forward to that competition and it is a massive thing. The really exciting thing for us is that it is going to be slightly different.
"There are a lot of ideas floating around of ways to make it more of a show. To go there and watch will be amazing and one thing I have said of the back of Rio is that gymnastics is now in the best possible position.
"People are congratulating us and want to go and watch and hopefully this can be something for them."
