Johnson has repeatedly demonstrated he has no equals in the 125-pound category and he outclassed Moraga for 23 minutes before submitting him late in the fifth round.
The 26-year-old, who thrilled his local crowd in Seattle with a grappling clinic for the entirety of his fight, threw out the idea of fighting the 135-pound titleholder at the post-fight press conference.
The flyweight division may now lack genuine contenders for the belt meaning Johnson could return to the bantamweight leagues where he cut his teeth before dropping down.
In the duration of last night's main-event Johnson utilised takedowns to stifle Moraga, completely overwhelming the challenger. Moraga's only moment of success came in the fourth round when a right hand cut Johnson on the bridge of his nose.
But the bloodied champion wasn't fazed and despite clearly leading on the judges' scorecards he finished the fight via armbar after a technically proficient transition from a kimura with just one minute and 17 seconds remaining.
Johnson completed all 10 of his attempted takedowns to underline the gulf in skill between himself and the less experienced Moraga. It capped off a remarkable eight days for the hometown hero after his wife gave birth to their first child last Friday.
Elsewhere, Rory MacDonald earned a decision win over Jake Ellenberger in the co-main event, Robbie Lawlor knocked out Bobby Voelker with a head kick and Liz Carmouche stopped Jessica Andrade with ground strikes.
