Michael Scudamore is still no closer to discovering if Crabbie's Grand National third Monbeg Dude will be ready in time for another shot at the Aintree marathon.

The 2013 Welsh National winner ran a great race in April, finishing just over seven lengths behind Many Clouds and Saint Are, but he sustained a tendon injury at the Merseyside circuit.

Scudamore said: "Monbeg Dude is still on the sidelines not doing much.

"We are taking it day by day and the vet is due to look at him in a couple of weeks' time.

"Whether we get him back for the National is still up in the air.
