Morgan Knowles was red-carded for this tackle on Catalans' Thibaut Margalet

St Helens forward Morgan Knowles could be banned for up to eight games following his red card in Saturday's Betfred Super League victory over Catalans Dragons.

The 21-year-old was sent off in the early stages of the second half in Perpignan for a dangerous throw on Thibaut Margalet.

Knowles has been handed a Grade E charge by the Rugby Football League's match review panel and will appear in front of a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday, where he could face a suspension of four to eight matches.

Dragons back-rower Benjamin Jullien has been given a one-match penalty notice for dangerous contact on Jonny Lomax just minutes after Knowles' sending-off.

The France international was sin-binned by referee Phil Bentham and will miss Thursday's trip to Hull KR if he accepts the Grade B charge.

Jullien has until 11am on Tuesday to challenge the penalty, which was at the lower end of the range due to his clean disciplinary record.
