Leigh Centurions have continued their ambitious recruitment with the capture of Australian outside back Mitch Brown from NRL leaders Cronulla.
The 28-year-old will join the Championship club in time for the start of the Super 8s Qualifiers next month and has agreed a contract that runs to the end of 2018.
Brown began his NRL career at Cronulla in 2006 and also had spells at Wests Tigers and Canterbury Bulldogs before rejoining the Sharks two years ago.
Speaking to the club website Leigh coach Neil Jukes was delighted with Brown's capture.
"I am really excited to bring in a guy of Mitch's experience and what he can offer to our team and culture," he said.
"He is an experienced back-line player who can play wing, centre or full-back and he's not here for the short term.
"I have spoken to Mitch personally and he is excited by the challenge to enhance what we are doing at Leigh Centurions. He has a lot to offer to the game and we have done a lot of research on him as a player and as a person and every feedback has been positive."
The back has scored 39 tries in 132 NRL appearances and recently missed best man duties at his brother's wedding to help Cronulla secure a 13th successive win that strengthened their position at the top of the table.
Brown is the Centurions' fourth major recruit of the week, following the signing of St Helens centre Matty Dawson and Castleford second rower Danny Tickle.
Catalans Dragons prop Antoni Maria will also join them in November and Leigh owner Derek Beaumont will be hoping Leigh will already be in Super League.
He said: "This is yet another statement of our intent as a club to build a Super League side and our ability to convince proven top quality players that we are a club going places."
