League 1 club Barrow Raiders have signed stand-off Lewis Charnock from St Helens on a two-year contract.

Barrow chose Charnock to fill the gap of departing Chris Hankinson, who has moved to Swinton Lions.

Charnock has made six appearances for Saints since 2013 and spent time on loan at Championship clubs Leigh and Bradford Bulls.

The 22-year-old finished the 2016 season at Bradford where he scored three tries and 26 goals, with the Bulls finishing the campaign in fifth place.

Leigh Centurions, who hit an early season injury crisis, loaned the stand-off from St Helens. The Centurions went on to win the Championship and promotion into the Super League.
