A second-half blitz helped Featherstone kick off their pre-season fixtures with a 38-14 victory over Halifax.

The first half was a closely-fought affair, with Rovers just 10-8 ahead thanks to tries from Josh Hardcastle and Andy Bostock, and in fact the home side took the lead shortly after the break.

But thereafter Jon Sharp's side scored five unanswered tries against a young Halifax team to earn a comfortable win.

It was Halifax who opened the scoring as Ben Heaton crashed over, before Featherstone hit back with the Hardcastle and Bostock tries. The home side then pulled one score back as Scott Murrell scored following a break from Morgan Punchard to trail by two points at half-time.

Connor Robinson reinstated Halifax's lead in the second half with an intercept try, but it was to be his side's final act of scoring as Featherstone took control of the game with a try from Brad Tagg before further scores for Hardcastle and Bostock, and one each from Sam Day and Scott Turner as Featherstone eased home.
