Castleford prop Lee Jewitt has signed a two-year contract extension after making a big impression in his first three months with the club.

The Wigan-born forward, 27, who was released by Salford at the end of last season, has played in eight of the Tigers' last nine matches after joining them on a short-term deal from French side Limoux.

Castleford coach Daryl Powell said: "Lee Jewitt has fitted so well into the way we do things and I am really pleased he has decided to take up our offer of a two-year contract.

"Lee is a tough defender with a great go-forward game with the ball and I look forward to him becoming a real enforcer within our pack."

Jewitt, now contracted to the end of 2016, said: "This is the best club I have ever been at by far and I am really impressed with the set-up and the way we play. I am really enjoying my time here."
