Huddersfield utility back Aaron Murphy will remain at the John Smith's Stadium until at least the end of 2018 after signing a new, extended contract.

Murphy has made 128 appearances and scored 50 tries since joining the Giants from Wakefield in 2011 and demonstrated his versatility by appearing in the full-back, wing and centre positions.

"It's a great honour to get a longer-term stay here," the 25-year-old said. "I have enjoyed every minute at the club."

Huddersfield managing director Richard Thewlis said: "Aaron is a superbly reliable Huddersfield Giant and a hugely important part of our squad.

"To have his qualities here for the long term will give all our supporters a huge boost and he is highly respected throughout the game as a top-quality professional.

"This announcement follows on from the captures of Craig Huby and Jamie Ellis and the elevation of a number of our younger players into the full-time Super league squad for 2015.

"The supporters can expect more such moves as we look to maintain our predominantly home-grown squad."
