Defending champions Leigh only unbeaten Championship side after victory

Defending champions Leigh are the only unbeaten team after three rounds of the Kingstone Press Championship.

The Centurions followed their opening-day win over Bradford by beating the other relegated Super League club London Broncos at the Leigh Sports Village.

Centre Tom Armstrong scored two tries and others came from Kurt Haggerty, Liam Kay and Ryan Brierley, while Martyn Ridyard kicked two goals and a drop-goal in a 25-12 victory.

Erjon Dollapi and Rhys Williams scored tries and Wes Naiqama kicked two goals for the Broncos, who are third from bottom after winning one of their first three games.

Bradford ran in seven tries in a 40-4 win over last year's Grand Final runners-up Featherstone in front of a 6,346 crowd at the new-look Big Fella's Stadium.

Stand-off Lee Gaskell and winger Wayne Ulugia both scored two tries and others came from Adrian Purtell, Adam O'Brien and Jean-Christophe Baile, while Ryan Shaw kicked seven goals.

Forward James Lockwood scored Rovers' only points with a second-half try.

Batley suffered their first defeat, going down 6-2 at home to Halifax.

Scott Leatherbarrow gave the Bulldogs the lead with a penalty but the visitors scored the only try of the game through Australian Matthew Place, which was converted by Steve Tyrer. Halifax hung on to win after a scoreless second half.

New Whitehaven coach James Coyle was unable to inspire his side to a first win as they went down 20-6 at home to Sheffield Eagles to remain at the foot of the table.

A try from stand-off Danny Craven, playing on a dual-registration from Widnes, put Whitehaven into a 6-4 lead midway through the first half.

But Pat Walker had scored the game's opening try and the Eagles added others through Steve Turner's double, Quentin Laulu-Togagae and Menzie Yere, with Dom Brambani missing all of his kicks at goal.

Promoted Hunslet claimed a first Championship victory with an 18-6 win over Dewsbury. George Flanagan and Vinny Finigan scored tries for the Hawks and Simon Brown kicked five goals.

Ryan Hepworth scored Dewsbury's try on the hour and Tom Hemingway added the goal.

Wigan winger Dom Manfredi was among the tryscorers for Workington in their 33-6 win over Doncaster.

Town's other tries came from Sam Forrester, Callum Phillips, Perry Whiteley, Karl Olstrum and Carl Forber, who also kicked four goals, while Jamie Doran completed the scoring with a last-minute drop-goal.

Pasqualle Dunn scored Doncaster's only try, with David Scott adding the extras.
