Scott Wheeldon has joined Championship club Sheffield Eagles on a three-year contract after the prop was released by Castleford.

The Eagles, who are going full-time in 2016, say they have beaten off competition from a host of clubs to land the former Hull, Hull KR and London Broncos forward.

Wheeldon has played his entire professional career in Super League. The 29-year-old played for Hull in the 2006 Grand Final and was in the Castleford team that lost in the 2014 Challenge Cup final to Leeds.
