Brad Singleton let down Leeds team-mates, says Brian McDermott

Brian McDermott says Brad Singleton is not guaranteed to reclaim his Leeds place once his six-match ban ends.

Singleton's elbow on Catalans' Greg Bird was deemed a Grade E offence and earned him a record suspension for a Rhinos player.

The ban starts this week when Leeds host Wakefield, and Headingley boss McDermott said: "Brad has been a standout for us so far this year but last Friday he let his team-mates down.

"He pleaded guilty as he knew the extent of his careless tackle and that type of incident has no place in the modern game.

"We will now put Brad into a mini pre-season so he can be in good shape on his return should he get picked in the team after his suspension."

Singleton stayed on the field last Friday after his offence, and Leeds went on to win the Super League game 46-10.
