Widnes have continued preparations for their return to Super League by confirming they are to release 13 players at the end of the season.
The list is headed by former Wigan, Castleford and Wakefield prop Danny Sculthorpe who earned a contract for 2011 after a successful trial spell at the club.
Widnes have also released Dean Gaskell, Richard Varkulis, Gareth Haggerty, Danny Hulme, Shane Grady, Chaz I'Anson, Chris Lunt, Matt Gardner, Greg Scott, Daniel Heckenberg, Tangi Ropati and Dave Houghton.
Vikings director of rugby Paul Cullen said: "I would like to thank all the players who have made a positive contribution to the Widnes Vikings during our fight to return to Super League.
"Without them it would not have been possible. They have earned their place in the proud history of our club."
