Kieron Cunningham glad to see Luke Walsh return in St Helens win

Keiron Cunningham was pleased to see Luke Walsh return after watching his St Helens side edge past Huddersfield on Sunday.
Saints won 11-8 at the John Smith’s Stadium to end a three-match losing streak in a game that lacked any real fluency, with Walsh landing a 30-metre drop goal to nudge his side ahead with just 13 minutes remaining.
Cunningham admitted the game lacked much of the skill and speed usually associated with Super League, but was happy with the fight displayed by his team and the return of former Penrith Panther Walsh after injury.
"It was a real scrappy game, like an old school dogfight up the middle," said Cunningham. "There wasn't much skill or entertaining stuff going on and we just had to grind it out.
"We weren't very smart but true determination, grit and togetherness got us through.
"Walshy did what Danny Brough has done all his life and brought us home and I was really pleased with him on his return.
“It wasn't the greatest game but we'll take the points and it was good to see Walshy back."
Next up, the reigning Super League champions take on table-topping Leeds on Friday, a game you can watch live on Sky Sports 3HD.
