Injury-hit scrum-half ruled out of Grand Final

St Helens scrum-half Kyle Eastmond has been ruled out of the engage Super League Grand Final clash against Wigan with an ankle injury. The 21-year-old has been plagued by injuries recently and has only been able to play four times over the last three months. He has struggled with hip, shoulder and ankle problems during that time and picked up damaged ankle ligaments during Saints' play-off semi-final victory over Huddersfield. His fitness for the final was immediately thrown into doubt and he was unable to recover in time for the showdown at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Setback

Despite the setback, coach Mick Potter does not think that Eastmond's absence will be too much of a blow to his side. The outgoing Saints boss has named utility back Jonny Lomax, who has missed both play-offties witha leg injury, in his 19-man squad "We have got other options - we've got Chris Flannery, Jon Wilkin, Jonny Lomax, Gary Wheeler. There's a multitude of different options we can work with," Potter said. "As much as you lose one, I've got plan B, plan C and plan D ready to go."
