Latest setback for injury-hit Saints

St Helens stand-off Lee Gaskell will be out of action for around six weeks after it was confirmed he has fractured an ankle. The 20-year-old was injured in Saints' 52-6 Engage Super League victory over Wakefield last Friday and joins a lengthy Saints' casualty list. Former England half-back Leon Pryce is still thought to be two months away from recovering fitness from a groin injury, while forward Chris Flannery tore a hamstring in the Wildcats game. Scrum-half Kyle Eastmond will not be available for the two Easter fixtures due to a chest infection, while forwards Josh Perry and Paul Clough remain on the sidelines. But England prop James Graham is expected to be fit for the Good Friday derby at Wigan despite a sternum injury he suffered on Friday. Shaun Magennis should also play despite dislocating a finger, breaking his nose and suffering a calf injury against Wakefield, as should Gary Wheeler (calf).

Workload

The traditional Easter derby is followed by Castleford's visit to the Stobart Stadium on Monday, but coach Royce Simmons said: "We know the rules before the competition starts. If you are going to go 'crook' about it, fine, but you should have done it three months ago. "It is a heavy workload, no doubt about it - you can get a lot of injuries and some of the squads do not have a lot of depth. "But there are a lot of jobs harder than this one. You may get battered a bit more than the bloke laying bricks but he'll be there doing it again tomorrow and the day after, and the day after that."
