Salford have signed second rower Matty Ashurst from St Helens on a three-year contract.
The 21-year-old has made 60 appearances for Saints since making his first-team debut back in the 2009 season.
He appeared in 16 games this year, though Ashurst was not picked in their squad for the Super League Grand Final against Leeds Rhinos at Old Trafford.
The forward becomes Reds coach Matt Parish's fourth signing for 2012, joining Australian utility back Joel Moon and Crusaders prop forward Jordan James, who have both signed two-year contracts, and prop Ben Gledhill.
Ashurst may yet be joined at Salford by Saints team-mate Scott Moore, as the club look to bolster their playing squad for their first season at their new community stadium in Barton.
